{"id":6230,"date":"2023-01-03T09:40:13","date_gmt":"2023-01-03T08:40:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rapharm.eu\/en\/?p=6230"},"modified":"2023-04-18T11:06:45","modified_gmt":"2023-04-18T09:06:45","slug":"eu-new-limitation-of-ingredients-in-food-supplements","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rapharm.eu\/en\/eu-new-limitation-of-ingredients-in-food-supplements\/","title":{"rendered":"EU: New limitation of ingredients in food supplements"},"content":{"rendered":"<style type=\"text\/css\"><\/style>\n<p>In connection\nwith Article 8(2) of Regulation (EC) no. 1925\/2006, the Commission adopted\nRegulation no. 2022\/2340, which restricts the use of EGCG, i.e.\n(-)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate in green tea extracts, as it represents a potential\nrisk for consumers, which in daily doses above than 800 mg can cause a\nstatistically significant increase of serum transaminases for in treated\nsubjects compared to control subjects, which is indicative of liver injury.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Green tea is\nproduced from the leaves of Camellia sinensis (L.) Kuntze, without\nfermentation, which results in the presence of flavanols, commonly known as\ncatechins, the most relevant of which is (-)-epigallocatechin-3-gallate.
